Dr. Sun is an assistant professor in the Computer Science Division, School of Computing, University of Southern Mississippi. He received his B.S. and M.S. in Mathematics from Shandong University, and M.S. and Ph.D in Computer Science from University of California, Irvine. His research advisors in mathematics and computer science were Guizhen Liu and Michael T. Goodrich.

His research interests are data structures and algorithms with their applications. He is particularly interested in algorithmic problems in information security, computational geometry, graph drawing and graph partition, network and distributed computing, and computational biology.
